Job summary

Huc (Herts Urgent Care) in England seeks an NHS 111 Clinical Advisor to provide safe, timely triage and advice to callers. You will assess urgent presentations, identify clinical risk and determine appropriate onward care using NHS Pathways and local pathways.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, supervise Health Advisors, and contribute to governance, safety and continuous improvement in a 24/7 service. This role develops clinical assessment and remote consultation skills.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse or paramedic with post-registration experience
• UK professional registration required
• Experience in healthcare settings or specialties relevant to the profession
• Healthcare experience in primary care or A&E settings
• Desirable: Pathways trained
• Desirable: Experience with telephone triage or remote consultation
• Disclosures: DBS checks apply
• Applicants must have current UK professional registration

Responsibilities

• Conduct structured telephone assessments, gathering information and evaluating symptoms, risk, and capacity
• Use NHS Pathways and local pathways to determine urgency and appropriate care
• Recognise red flags, deterioration, safeguarding concerns and escalate when needed
• Provide clear, evidence-based advice, safety-netting and care plans
• Arrange safe referrals to ambulance, primary/urgent care, mental health, pharmacy and community services
• Support Health Advisors and the wider team with clinical guidance and case reviews
• Maintain accurate records, protect confidentiality and participate in audits and training
