Job Introduction

BBC Children in Need is the UK’s most recognisable children’s charity, funding essential work with children and young people across the UK to help them thrive and overcome their challenges.

At a time when we can only fund one in seven of the organisations that apply to us for support, our Partnerships Team is fulfilling a crucial role in securing new partnerships to ensure we can be there for every child who needs us.

We have ambitious plans for growth to make sure this is possible and this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to help deliver change for children.

The New Partnerships Manager will join a highly motivated, experienced team responsible for identifying and securing new partnerships across a range of sectors. They will help generate significant income, increase audience reach, and maximise the power of our brand so that new partners can see the impact they can have for children and young people.

The individual will need to develop relationships with prospective partners using their proactive outreach skills and networks, and use a relationship-led approach to develop the new partnerships pipeline, ensuring potential for high-value, strategic, multi-year, multi-faceted partnerships.

The role involves the development of impact-led propositions and contributing to the successful delivery of BBC Children in Need's annual campaign, in partnership with the BBC, by integrating new partner activities to amplify the campaign, reaching new audiences and achieving growth.

Main Responsibilities

  • Generating Income and growth: Identify and secure new partnerships that generate significant income, reach new audiences and help deliver the organisation’s plans for growth.
  • Relationship Management: Through proactive outreach and relationship management, build a strong pipeline of prospects to help us secure high-value, strategic, multi-year and multi-faceted partnerships to deliver our strategic objectives for children.
  • Develop high quality pitches and propositions, in line with our grant-making strategy, to secure partnerships and make the most of the power of BBC Children in Need’s brand.
  • Delivering Impact: Collaborate with our Impact and Insight teams to develop impact-led propositions that drive broader impact beyond income, through story-telling and a compelling case for support.
  • Financial Reporting: Contribute to financial targets and use them to inform budgeting and forecasting.

Are you the right Candidate?

  • Relationship Management: Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, and convey ideas succinctly and persuasively. Ability to use a variety of approaches to tailor and secure new partnerships.
  • Commercial Approach: Demonstrate strong commercial acumen with a proven track record of identifying opportunities and securing income from new partnerships.
  • Significant brand and marketing campaign experience with notable success, including metrics like increased sales, increased fundraising income, brand awareness, or customer engagement. An understanding of how these approaches can help deliver on the organisation’s wider purpose for children.
  • Creative Thinking: Experience of developing innovative ideas and compelling propositions and converting into wins to engage our audiences and supporters.
  • Organisation: Excellent organisational skills to establish priorities and develop clear, efficient, and logical plans to achieve goals.
  • Communication: Excellent communication, storytelling and presentation skills.
  • Campaign Experience: Experience contributing to large-scale campaigns, preferably in a non-profit context.
  • Team working: Able to work well within a team.
  • Passion for Cause: A genuine passion for delivering change for children and young people across the UK.
