Overview

Within Civil Aerospace there is a vacancy for a MRO Facilities & Equipment Manufacturing/Capability Acquisition Engineer. This role is newly established to support and drive the strategic and commercial expansion of the Aftermarket MRO business, covering both Engine Overhaul and Component Repair Facilities from a technical perspective. As an Engineering Work Stream lead, you will provide initial technical support and guidance for the design, creation and equipping of a world class engine overhaul or component repair facility in line with company strategy. You will act as a Rolls-Royce Engineering liaison working with an assigned Project Manager to ensure the supplier/vendor or Airline Customer embed suitable infrastructure to support and maintain the MRO Engineering requirements contained within the Rolls-Royce Care Engine Manuals, ensuring the facility integrates and deploys controlled processes and methods to meet airworthiness authorities and Rolls-Royce requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time (SQCD).

What You Will Be Doing
  • Deliver technical support to ensure MRO facilities (existing and new) are fully capable of overhauling new engine types in line with company strategy.
  • Liaise with Business Project Managers and Business Strategy & Marketing teams to provide ROM estimates on facility footprint and budget data for machinery and process equipment/systems to enable initial business case development.
  • Provide in-country process capability gap analysis reviews of potential new customer/supplier facilities, aligned to the Method Of Manufacture requirements in Rolls-Royce Care Engine Manuals.
  • Support Global Commodity Managers and Strategic Buyers as part of the External Supply Chain Capability Assessment (ESCCA) process.
  • Maintain and develop engine/component characteristic matrix support tools for quick responses to customer queries.
  • Develop high-level facility designs for multiple engine types using RRPS Factory Design & Layout principles and discrete simulation modelling tools.
  • Liaise with external Joint Ventures and Approved Maintenance Centres to design and build factories enabling full Engine Overhaul and return to service using Mechanical/Manufacturing and Civil Engineering knowledge, procedures and methods.
  • Become a Team/Local Subject Matter Expert on at least two processes or procedures used daily, sharing knowledge with the team.
  • Travel to global destinations (project dependent) approximately four times per year.
Who We Are Looking For
  • Knowledge and experience of RRPS Technical & Management Modules (or equivalent Performance Production system).
  • Previous experience as WBS lead for the Engineering aspects of the Factory Design & Layout process.
  • Familiar with Health, Safety and Environmental laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency with management system standards and requirements such as FAIr (AS9102), MVA, SABRe, NADCAP, etc.
  • High level understanding of the design, structure and functional characteristics of the Gas Turbine Engine.
  • High level understanding of the processes, equipment and machinery for disassembly and re-assembly of Rolls-Royce TRENT engine families.
  • High level understanding of processes, equipment and machinery for Component cleaning, inspection and repair of components in the TRENT engine family.
  • Proficient user of RR Care technical manuals and engineering documents/systems (EMP/PLM/TDMS/OMSDs or equivalent).
  • Ability to formulate technical guides and reports for facility creation and equipping.
  • Experience with AutoCAD products.
  • Ability to translate technical instructions/data into a Process or Machine Tool specification (Statement of Requirements).
  • Experience working with Machine Tool OEMs on equipment Acceptance testing, Installation and Commissioning (foundations, lifting plans, compliance testing, CE marking and other HS&E requirements).
  • Strong problem diagnosis and ability to develop practical technical solutions.
  • Good communication and team-working skills with the ability to build strong networks and influence customers and external organizations.
  • Ability to work under flexible and challenging deadlines with limited technical support.
  • Proven track record of solid technical decision-making and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel to global destinations as required.
