Job description

We are inviting applications for a motivated and forward-thinking Physiotherapist to join our Community neuro outpatient team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to enhance their clinical skills within a supportive and dynamic environment. We provide close MDT working with our OT, RA, Psychology partners, and wider specialist nurses.

As a key member of the team, you will be involved in supervision, education, and appraisal of physiotherapists, support staff, and students. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to lead and participate in relevant service development initiatives.

We are looking for a physiotherapist with strong clinical reasoning skills, excellent communication, and a genuine passion for neurorehabilitation. Previous experience in neurological physiotherapy is beneficial, along with the ability to work independently and flexibly within a community setting. A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are required.

Responsibilities include:

1. Providing physiotherapy assessment to neurological patients with diverse physical and cognitive presentations, delivering individualized treatment programs in clinics, patients' homes, and community settings.
2. Delivering group education and rehabilitation programs, including specialist clinics such as Parkinson’s, MS, and FND.
3. Providing expert advice to health and social care professionals, carers, relatives, and non-professionals.
4. Managing your own caseload independently, with regular access to advice and support from a senior physiotherapist.
5. Undertaking all clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
6. Working as part of the Hertfordshire Neurological Service team, specializing in stroke and other neurological conditions.
7. Supervising, educating, and assessing Band 5 physiotherapists and rehabilitation assistants.

Management and Leadership

1. Deputising for senior staff, managing operational aspects of the physiotherapy team.
2. Supervising record keeping according to standards.
3. Teaching and assessing student physiotherapists and contributing to performance appraisals.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Developing good communication with staff and management.
• Providing statistical data on treatments and outcomes.

Physical and Emotional Effort

• Manual handling, therapeutic handling, and working in various environments.
• Responding to work interruptions and covering staff shortages.
• Dealing with challenging behaviors, patients' death, and long-term relationships with patients and families.

Working Conditions

• Handling body fluids and working in potentially infectious environments.
