Job overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapist with an interest and experience in neurology to join the Tower Hamlets Community Neuro Team (THCNT). You will be part of a large, friendly, highly successful multidisciplinary team, based at Mile End Hospital, delivering rehabilitation to patients in their own homes, virtually or in our neuro gym on site.

You will be responsible for assessing, treating and clinically managing patients with a range of neurological conditions, some life limiting; determining clinical diagnosis, functional deficits and the treatment program required. This role is available full time (37.5hrs/wk).

The ideal candidate will have a passion for neurological physiotherapy; excellent communication skills, plenty of initiative and enthusiasm with the ability to work autonomously and as a part of the wider MDT.

Within Bart’s we offer a robust teaching and training programme with the opportunity to complete Quality Improvement and Audit projects, we provide a supportive and engaging environment to develop and grow our therapists. As a Band 6 you will have the opportunity to develop your own supervisory skills through supporting and supervising junior therapists, students and/or therapy support workers.

Main duties of the job
  1. To play a specialist role in the assessment, treatment and clinical management of patients with neurological conditions, determining clinical diagnosis, functional deficits and physiotherapy treatment program required.
  2. To be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, providing multidisciplinary initial assessment and working in an integrated way to provide coordinated care.
  3. To be involved in formal and informal training such as clinical review sessions, peer review and in-service training.
  4. To supervise, educate and assess the performance of less experienced Physiotherapy staff and physiotherapy students.
  5. To participate in evidence-based audit and/or research projects to further own and team’s clinical practice within the Tower Hamlets Community Neuro Team (THCNT).
  6. To present findings to the wider team in order to be involved in the implementation of service development and changes to practice.
  7. This job is primarily community based but will involve one day a week of neuro-outpatients provision.
