Job Description

As a Network Support Specialist at Redcentric, you will be part of a team of 3rd Line Engineers providing high-level technical support. Your responsibilities include handling complex queries, resolving faults, and implementing network changes. You will also have opportunities to participate in internal projects and mentor junior engineers. Continual service improvement is a key aspect of this role, focusing on proactive enhancements to prevent faults and support DevOps initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate with customers to resolve issues within SLAs.
  • Scope, document, and implement network solutions.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and serve as an escalation point.
  • Create tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop technical understanding of products and contribute to improvements.
  • Support and train support teams; develop documentation.
  • Manage configuration data and liaise with vendors.
  • Analyze network/security data and implement improvements.
  • Proactively identify and act on issues or opportunities.
Person Specification
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Professional, confident, and friendly demeanor.
  • Proven experience in a network support role.
  • Strong understanding of network security.
  • Customer service experience liaising with clients and vendors.
  • Experience with network equipment and troubleshooting.
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Essential Skills/Experience
  • Knowledge of BGP, OSPF, and MPLS technologies.
  • Experience with Cisco hardware and Fortinet products.
  • Understanding of SD-WAN, network analysis, and protocols like TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP.
  • Familiarity with IPsec, firewalls, wireless, and security best practices.
Advantageous Skills and Experience
  • 2+ years in a senior or 3rd line role.
  • CCNP or equivalent certification.
  • ITIL v3 or similar experience.
  • Experience with scripting (Python), UNIX, and cellular networks.
  • Knowledge of public service networks and various vendors.
Hours of Work

Standard hours are 9:00-17:30 Monday-Thursday, 15:30 on Friday, with planned overtime and on-call duties (1 in 7 weeks, with allowance).

Location

Hybrid role with at least one day/week in Harrogate office; York office available as needed.
