This role will provide a great opportunity to be responsible for the design, support, maintenance and continual improvement of the organisation's network and security infrastructure.Working as a senior technical specialist within the Technology Services function, the role provides technical leadership, acts as an escalation point for complex incidents and problems, and plays a key role in the delivery of infrastructure projects and technology initiatives.The role is accountable for ensuring the availability, resilience, performance and security of enterprise technology services, supporting the organisation's operational, regulatory and strategic objectives.What you will be doingAs a trusted part of the IT team you will be responsible for:Take ownership of assigned incidents, problems, service requests and project tasks, ensuring they are effectively managed and maintained throughout their lifecycle.Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot enterprise network and security services to ensure availability, stability, resilience and performance.Design, implement, maintain and continually improve technical security controls to protect organisational systems, networks and data.Identify, assess and remediate network and security vulnerabilities through risk-based maintenance, patching and upgrade activities.Configure and manage network and security platforms in accordance with organisational standards, security policies and operational requirements.Embed security best practice into operational processes and technology services.Lead technical investigation, diagnosis and root cause analysis of incidents and problems, driving effective resolution and service improvement.Contribute to the design and delivery of infrastructure and security projects, ensuring solutions are secure, resilient and supportable.Develop, maintain and review technical documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance and operational effectiveness.Support the monitoring, maintenance and lifecycle management of network and security services.Ensure routine maintenance activities are identified, planned and completed in line with operational, security and compliance requirements.Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to plan maintenance activities and minimise operational impact.Develop and maintain security technology solutions in partnership with internal security, governance and technology teams.Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, industry trends and security best practice, recommending improvements where appropriate.Identify opportunities to improve service reliability, operational efficiency and security posture through continual service improvement initiatives.Identify opportunities to automate operational activities through repeatable and sustainable engineering practices.Ensure change management processes are followed and that infrastructure changes are appropriately assessed, documented and implemented.Support the delivery of departmental objectives and wider technology initiatives.Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism and a commitment to high-quality service delivery.About youWe know that security services within complex environments.Strong understanding of network infrastructure, security principles and resilient service design.Experience managing and supporting multi site and hybrid infrastructure environments.Strong knowledge of network security concepts including segmentation, secure remote access, access control and defence in depth principles.Experience identifying, assessing and remediating network infrastructure and security vulnerabilities.Understanding of high availability, load balancing, resilience and disaster recovery principles.Experience supporting the lifecycle management of network infrastructure and security platforms.Experience implementing and maintaining monitoring, alerting and operational management capabilities.Ability to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across network and security domains.Experience delivering technical projects and infrastructure change within a controlled environment.Strong understanding of change management, operational governance and service management practices.Ability to develop and maintain clear technical documentation, standards and procedures.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.Ability to effectively prioritise and manage workloads across both project delivery and operational support activities.Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Commitment to continual learning, professional development and the adoption of industry best
