Job summary

Yorkshire Building Society Group are hiring a Network Security Engineer on a fixed term 12-month contract in Bradford. The role is hybrid with some onsite presence in the Bradford office and occasional out-of-hours site attendance for urgent changes.

You will deliver daily network incidents, changes and service improvements, and work on SDN, automation, and IaC to ensure secure, high-performing network services.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, implementing and supporting LAN/WAN networks.
• Strong understanding of IP networks and security for Internet-facing services.
• DNS and DHCP in Windows/Unix environments.
• Experience with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing.
• Knowledge of OSPF, BGP and Spanning-Tree to CCNA standard or equivalent.
• Comfort with SDN, automation, IaC and observability.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily support for incidents, change requests and service improvements within the Network Service Data Team.
• Install, configure and support Production, Non-Production and DR networking infrastructures.
• Assist with design, documentation and installation of network infrastructure for implementation through to live support.

We are thrilled to announce an incredible fixed term contract opportunity for a Network Engineer to join our Technology Infrastructure Platform and Networks team. In this role, you'll provide technical expertise to deliver and maintain compliant and performant network data and security services across YBS.

This is a hybrid role; remote working and a small amount of onsite presence in our Bradford office.

There is the possibility of needing to attend site out of hours in an emergency when implementing changes, so candidates should ideally be within an hour of Yorkshire Drive office in Bradford.

About the role

As Network Engineer, you’ll provide daily support of incidents, change requests ands service improvements within the Network Service Data Team. You’ll -

• Be responsible for the installation, configuration and support of Production, Non-Production and Disaster Recovery Networking infrastructures

• Work on other tasks that will include design, documentation and subsequent installation, configuration and support of infrastructure required to sustain the various phases of Network implementation, from development through to live transition and support

• Employ modern engineering practices - including SoftwareDefined Networking (SDN), automation and orchestration, InfrastructureasCode (IaC), and advanced observability to deliver resilient, secure and scalable services

About you

You’ll bring -

• A passion for learning new technologies and how to deliver value from them in an Enterprise environment

• A desire to provide great customer service

• Experience designing, implementing and supporting LAN/ WAN networks

• A good understanding of Internet Protocol (IP) networks & a proven track record in implementing security techniques around Internet facing services

• DNS and DHCP in Windows/ Unix and Internet environment experience

• Understanding of vulnerability assessment/ penetration testing

• Knowledge of underlying network protocols such as OSPF, BGP and Spanning-Tree to a minimum of CCNA standard or equivalent

• Excellent Security/ Network problem diagnosis and resolution skills

• Desirable skills include - security/ firewall experience including Cisco FTD’s and Check Point, Cisco wireless and Cisco Secure Access, F5 application delivery controller experience, Cisco ACI and Cisco hybrid ZTNA, & experience of scripting and Infrastructure as Code
