Job summary

Wifinity is seeking a seasoned L3 Network Engineer to join our Network Operations Centre in the UK. You will act as the highest technical escalation point for complex incidents, major outages, and problem investigations across our nationwide network estate.

You will mentor L2 Engineers, lead troubleshooting across wired, wireless and WAN infrastructure, and drive improvements in standards, automation and documentation while supporting strategic customer projects.

Qualifications

  • Proven ISP/enterprise Network Operations experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, Layer 2/3 switching and routing.
  • Strong enterprise wireless experience and Wi‑Fi troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Act as highest technical escalation point for complex network incidents and major outages.
  • Lead technical troubleshooting across enterprise wired, wireless and WAN infrastructure.
  • Own RCA, PIRs and technical recommendations after incidents.
  • Deliver complex project implementations across the network estate.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to L2 Network Engineers.

Wifinity was founded in 2007 to solve a problem—our armed forces were struggling with reliable connectivity. While living in barracks, often in remote locations, ordering a landline and booking in an engineer just wasn’t an option.

And that problem isn’t exclusive to the military, either. Students living in University accommodation, families visiting holiday resorts, or living in shared accommodation and retirement communities.

Conventional home broadband doesn’t always work for them.

Wifinity is different. We offer the same benefits as traditional broadband, such as super-fast speeds, WiFi, and secure and private networks, but none of the downsides. We even offer Pay As You Go and flexible contracts, so customers only pay for what they need without hefty penalties or long contract terms.

TheOpportunity:

As an L3 Network Engineer within our Network Operations Centre (NOC), you will act as the highest technical escalation point for complex network incidents, majoroutagesand problem management across our estate. You will play a critical role inmaintainingthe stability, resilience and performance of our wired,wirelessand WAN infrastructure while supporting the delivery of strategic customer projects.

You will have the opportunity to work with a broad range of enterprise networking technologies whilst mentoring engineers and influencing the future direction of our network.

This role plays an integral part in ensuring operational excellence, improving customerexperienceand supporting the continued growth of the business.

KeyAreas of Focus:

The teamis responsible forproviding the highest level of technical support across Network Operations and playsan important roleinmaintainingthe stability,securityand continuous improvement ofWifinity'snationwide network infrastructure.

Your role will consist of the following responsibilities:

  • Act as the highest technical escalation point for complex network incidents, majorincidentsand problem investigations.
  • Lead technical troubleshooting across enterprise wired, wireless and WAN infrastructure.
  • Own Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Post Incident Reviews (PIRs)and technical recommendations following major incidents.
  • Deliver complex project implementation,configurationand migration activities across the network estate.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to L2 Network Engineers, Technical Services and Field Engineers.
  • Develop andmaintaintechnical standards, operational procedures,automationand best practice documentation.
  • Work with internal teams,vendorsand third-party suppliers to resolve complex infrastructure issues.
  • Identifyopportunities for continual service improvement, networkoptimisationand operational efficiencies.
  • Deliver all agreedobjectivesin line with departmental and business priorities.
  • Undertake any other duties aligned to the scope and level of the role.
About you:

You will be a highly motivated and technically driven engineer with the ability to lead complex investigations and remain composed under pressure. You enjoy solving challenging technical problems, continuously developing yourknowledgeand supporting others to grow.

You take ownership of issues frominitialinvestigation through to resolution, communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and always strive to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Essential
  • Proven experience working within an ISP,MSPor Enterprise Network Operations environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking, Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching and routing.
  • Strong experience with enterprise wireless technologies and Wi‑Fi troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting routing protocols including OSPF and BGP.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise firewalls,VPNsand network security.
  • Experience supporting WAN technologies including leased lines, MPLS or similar connectivity solutions.
  • CCNA or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3–5years experiencewithin a Network Operations or Network Engineering role.
Desirable
  • Experience withMikroTik, Fortinet, Ruckus, Cambium and TP-Link technologies.
  • Experience with monitoring platforms such as Zabbix and network management platforms such asNetBox.
  • Experience designing,implementingand supportinghighly availablenetwork solutions.
  • Experience supporting Service Transition and large-scale customer deployment projects.
  • CCNP or other networking certifications
  • SC clearanceor the ability to obtain
