About RTKFnet

RTKFnet is a leading independent provider of high-precision RTK correction services across England, Scotland and Wales.

We own and operate an extensive network of GNSS base stations and manage our service in-house, from network infrastructure and connectivity through to account provisioning and customer support.

As the business continues to grow, we are looking for a practical and experienced Network Infrastructure Engineer to support the maintenance, upgrade and expansion of our physical network.

The role

This is a hands-on field engineering role focused on the installation, maintenance and improvement of RTKFnet’s network infrastructure.

You will work alongside our Network Operations & Service Lead and wider technical team, carrying out planned maintenance, site upgrades, fault finding and new installations across the network.

The role will suit someone with experience in areas such as CCTV, ANPR, telecoms, lighting, security systems or other outdoor connected infrastructure, where safe working at height, tidy installations and reliable equipment are essential.

You do not need previous RTK experience. We are looking for someone with strong practical engineering skills, good network knowledge and high standards of workmanship.

The role is primarily based from our Cambridgeshire office, with regular travel to sites across the UK.

Key responsibilities
  • Maintain, upgrade and repair RTKFnet network sites.
  • Install and replace GNSS receivers, antennas, routers, power supplies and associated equipment.
  • Build and install modular cabinet-based solutions.
  • Carry out cable routing, termination, labelling and weatherproofing to a high standard.
  • Diagnose faults with power, connectivity, hardware and communications equipment.
  • Support site surveys and new installation planning.
  • Work safely at height using MEWPs and other appropriate access equipment.
  • Carry out electrical work within your level of competence and certification.
  • Maintain accurate site records, photographs, asset information and installation documentation.
  • Support network expansion, equipment relocations and planned upgrade programmes.
  • Assist with network audits, compliance checks and frequency-related work.
  • Occasionally support customer installations into agricultural, construction or other machinery.
  • Work with the wider technical team to identify recurring faults and improve installation standards.
About you

You will be a practical engineer who enjoys working with physical infrastructure and takes pride in completing installations properly.

You will need:

  • Experience in CCTV, telecoms, lighting, security systems, network infrastructure or a similar field engineering environment.
  • Good practical knowledge of IP networking, routers, mobile data and connected equipment.
  • Experience installing equipment in outdoor, commercial or industrial environments.
  • Confidence with cable routing, brackets, cabinets, power supplies and equipment mounting.
  • Relevant electrical competence or certification.
  • MEWP certification or previous experience working with powered access equipment.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • A high standard of workmanship, with good attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently while following agreed technical and safety standards.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.

Experience with antennas, radio equipment, GNSS, telemetry, IoT or remote monitoring systems would be advantageous but is not essential.

What we offer
  • Competitive salary, depending on experience.
  • Permanent, full-time employment.
  • Company van and fuel card for business use.
  • Company pension.
  • Life assurance.
  • Tools, equipment and necessary PPE.
  • A varied practical role working across network infrastructure, field engineering and connected technology.
