Job summary

Qualifications

• Familiarity with enterprise network infrastructure including routing, switching, wireless and SD-WAN.
• Hands-on experience with Splunk for data ingestion, searches and dashboards.
• Strong data quality mindset and ability to translate telemetry into actionable insights.
• Excellent verbal and written communication to collaborate with Engineering and Operations.
• Basic understanding of JIRA, Confluence and Agile frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and Management: Oversee monitoring event management and incident management, triage Level 1 networking issues.
• Network Operations: Provide operational support for network environments including switching, routing, perimeter security, traffic management, and content inspection.
• Proactive Troubleshooting: Use tools to identify service impacts and interpret monitors, dashboards and logs.
• Incident Response: React to production failures, manage triage efforts, and coordinate with teams and management.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain incident ticket data quality and prepare reports as directed by leadership.
• Governance and Compliance: Promote production governance during triage and testing, adhering to standards and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitoring and Management:Oversee Monitoring Event Management and Incident Management, ensuring timely Level 1 triage of networking issues.

• Proactive Troubleshooting:Utilise advanced tools such as Splunk, SevOne, IBM Watson AI Ops, Wireshark, NetScout, and Gigamon to identify service impacts and interpret monitors, dashboards, and logs.
• Incident Response:React effectively to production failures, managing triage efforts, engaging appropriate teams, and communicating with management and technical escalation.
• Documentation and Reporting:Maintain data quality and completeness of incident tickets, ensuring all impacts are accurately recorded in the system of record. Prepare professional documents and ad-hoc reports as directed by senior team members or leadership.
• Governance and Compliance:Promote and enforce production governance during triage and testing efforts, adhering to design standards and global authority processes.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Technical Expertise:Familiarity with enterprise network infrastructure, including routing, switching, wireless, and SD-WAN. Hands-on experience with Splunk for data ingestion, searches, and dashboard creation would be a big plus.
• Analytical Skills:Strong analytical skills with an attention to data quality, capable of translating raw telemetry into actionable insights for operations teams.
• Communication Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with Engineering and Operations teams.
• Agile Methodology:Basic understanding of JIRA, Confluence, and Agile frameworks, with experience in Networking-related disciplines within design, implementation, or operations roles.
