Job summary

Viridien / CGG in Haywards Heath is recruiting a Network Engineer to support and improve global enterprise and data centre network infrastructure. The role covers operational support, projects and lifecycle activities across enterprise, cloud-connected, security and SD-WAN environments.

The position emphasises on-site work, collaboration within a technical team, and ongoing monitoring and optimisation of network services.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience supporting enterprise or data centre networks.
• Hands-on experience configuring, supporting and troubleshooting production network infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of routing, switching, WAN, firewall and security fundamentals.
• Practical knowledge of BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS, VPNs and TCP/IP.
• Experience using monitoring, alerting or operational management platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills with a service focus.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support, maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure across WAN, LAN, wireless, data centre, cloud-connected and security environments.
• Monitor daily data centre operations.
• Deploy, configure and monitor routing, switching, firewall and network security platforms.
• Investigate network incidents, contribute to root cause analyses and support preventative improvements.
• Monitor network availability, performance, health and capacity across critical services.
• Participate in infrastructure projects, hardware refreshes, migrations and service improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams, standards and procedures.
• Support network security, resilience, compliance and lifecycle management activities.

What you’ll do

• Hands-on experience configuring, supporting and troubleshooting production network infrastructure.

• Practical knowledge of BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS, VPNs and TCP/IP.
• Experience using monitoring, alerting or operational management platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical and service-focused approach.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative technical team and build strong working relationships.

Additional role information

• The role includes on-call support rotation and occasional out-of-hours maintenance activities.
• Preferred experience includes Arista, Aruba/HPE, Cisco, Dell, Palo Alto or Juniper technologies.
• Exposure to SD-WAN and hybrid networking environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with Azure networking or cloud connectivity solutions is preferred.
