The Role:

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the organization’s networking infrastructure. The role requires strong technical expertise in network technologies and protocols, with a focus on diagnosing and resolving network issues to ensure high availability, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Configuration & Deployment: Configure and deploy routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. Perform upgrades, firmware updates, and patches. Document network configurations, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP). Assist in provisioning new network circuits and services.
  • Troubleshooting & Incident Response: Diagnose and resolve network failures in LAN, WAN, and wireless environments. Respond to incidents within SLAs. Conduct root cause analysis and implement fixes. Use tools like Wireshark, SolarWinds, and PRTG for proactive monitoring.
  • Maintenance & Optimization: Monitor network performance, manage inventory, and update documentation. Support preventive maintenance to reduce downtime.
  • Collaboration & Support: Work with infrastructure, security, and application teams. Support change management and business continuity. Liaise with vendors and provide mentorship to junior staff.
  • Security & Compliance: Enforce security policies, conduct vulnerability assessments, and support audits.

Relevant Experience & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, NAT, and subnetting.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, or equivalent equipment, including Fortinet Fortigate firewalls, Juniper SRX firewalls, Cisco Nexus switches, Cisco ISE, etc.
  • Proficiency in managing firewalls, load balancers, and wireless networks.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of F5 LTM, Akamai CDN, and security solutions.
