Job description

We are looking for motivated and caring Ambulance Drivers to join the Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) at Barts Health.

Our NEPTS is available for patients who cannot travel to or from our hospitals using any other method of transport due to their medical or mobility condition, or because their medical condition might worsen. All requests for patient transport are assessed on medical need. Transport is provided from patients' home addresses to North East London NHS Trust locations, and from Trust locations to a booked address anywhere in mainland UK, as specified by the ward or clinic.

The NEPTS Ambulance Driver plays a key role in providing safe transport for patients, ensuring timely, comfortable, and minimally stressful journeys. Responsibilities include conducting dynamic risk assessments of patients and their environment before non-emergency transportation.

Job Responsibilities

• Drive patients to and from hospitals ensuring comfort and safety, following Trust policies and procedures.
• Transport patients using appropriate vehicles, including cars, ambulances with wheelchair facilities, and stretcher vehicles.
• Maintain vehicles in a clean, tidy condition and report any defects or accidents immediately.
• Assess patients prior to transportation in non-emergency situations.
• Ensure all patients are transported with minimal stress, in compliance with safety standards.
