Job summary

Gateshead Health is seeking dedicated Neonatal nurses to join the nurse bank team caring for patients on the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead.

Key duties include assessing and planning neonatal care, ensuring practice aligns with policies, mentoring students and staff, and coordinating discharge with families and other services. NMC registration and NLS certification are required, with minimum 2 years' neonatal experience.

Qualifications

• NMC registration is required and must be current.
• Minimum 2 years' neonatal experience.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent; NLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and undertakes the assessment of neonatal patient care needs, and the planning, implementation and evaluation of care in the neonatal unit.
• Leads on use of evidence-based guidance to improve clinical practice and ensures care aligns with policies.
• Mentors students and staff; acts as a preceptor for new members of staff.
• Maintains records, promotes parental involvement and coordinates discharge planning with other agencies.
