Job summary

Neath Port Talbot Council is seeking a Youth and Community Worker to deliver NEET-focused support for 15+ young people, helping them access education, training or employment. You will run projects, signpost to specialist agencies and work to reduce barriers to progression.

You will develop relationships with schools, training providers and other agencies, manage a caseload, and use youth work techniques to engage learners.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with NEET young people.
• Knowledge of Youth Work practice and methods.
• Identify and remove barriers to engaging in education, training and employment by direct intervention and referral to specialists.
• Facilitate participation by identifying needs and communicating with stakeholders (young person, coworkers, parent/carer, school, training provider, other agencies, line manager).
• Experience in devising and delivering sessions to young people and small groups.
• Ability to work independently with young people and manage a caseload.
• Minimum of 4 GCSEs including English.
• Nationally recognised qualification in Youth and Community Work.
• EWC membership.

Responsibilities

• Deliver youth engagement and progression interventions.
• Provide one-to-one support to NEET individuals to enter or sustain education, training and/or employment.
• Develop and maintain relationships with agencies; signpost to services and opportunities.
• Manage a caseload and facilitate group activities and sessions.
