Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Band 5 Pharmacy Technician for Basildon site. The role covers Dispensary services, Medicines Management and Optimisation, and requires GPHC registration with NHS experience.

The post is 23 hours per week, on-site at Basildon, with a pro rata salary of £32,073 per annum. The team values meticulous attention to detail and collaboration within the pharmacy department.

Qualifications

• GPHC registration is required.
• BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical science is required.
• Experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Communicate drug or medicine related information to patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team.
• Communicate with ward staff to ensure timely supply of medicines.
• Transcribe clinically screened items to order.
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure timely discharge and seamless care post discharge.
• Provide advice to patients in written or verbal format to encourage compliance.
• Assess suitability of patients’ own medicines for continued use during hospital stay.
• Order medicines to wards adhering to formulary.
• Ensure ward handover to covering Technician in absence.
• Dispense medicines and check accuracy in stock control system; manage controlled drugs.
