Job summary

Applus+ UK is seeking an NDT Technician to join our Croydon team on a fixed-term contract running to December 2026. The role is 36 hours per week over four days, with flexible start days and local commuting preferred.

You will perform non-destructive examination using welding inspection and NDT methods, in line with company and client procedures, and produce inspection reports for timely client submission. Candidates should hold PCN Level 2 in MPI and DPI (and UT Level 2 or equivalent), with

  • Documented training and on-the-job experience per SNT-TC-1A and BS EN ISO 9712.
  • PCN in UT or another Level 2 PCN is required.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out day-to-day inspections using welding inspection and NDT methods per procedures.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, on time and within budget.
  • Produce written inspection reports and ensure submission to clients.
  • Maintain calibration and readiness of equipment and consumables.
  • Assist in training less experienced staff as needed.

We are currently seeking a professional to join our team on a fixed-term contract running until December 2026. This position is based in Croydon, working 36 hours per week across 4 days, with flexibility available around which days are worked. We are ideally looking for someone who is locally based and able to commute to the office; however, we will also consider candidates who are happy to travel for the right opportunity.

Overall Purpose of Role

Responsible for carrying out non‑destructive examination works utilizing the required techniques in accordance with relevant company and or client supplied procedures / acceptance criteria.

Base Manager / General Manager / Site Manager or Supervisor

Responsibilities
The Roles and Responsibilities of the NDT Technician will include but not be limited to:
  • Carrying out day-to-day Inspections using both welding inspection and NDT methods to the satisfaction of the client and keeping Site Manager/ General Manager up to date with job status and progress.
  • Accountable for aspects of each activity/project to ensure the safe and effective completion of work on time and within budget.
  • Maintain timesheets and all other necessary paperwork.
  • Keep up to date and understand, all current company, client and/or legislative requirements affecting conventional and advanced NDT techniques and conduct all work in accordance with them. Ensure equipment and consumables are within calibration dates prior to use.
  • Produce written reports of inspections, as required, within the company’s quality control procedures and to ensure all reports within his/her own responsibilities are produced and submitted to the client within time and to company’s quality control procedures following Applus+ NDT Reporting Procedure.
  • Other tasks as assigned by your line manager.
  • Assist in the training and development of less experienced members of staff.
  • Provide Management with signed copies new certification as and when achieved.
  • Adhere to and understand the Inspector Declaration form and its relevance to the incumbents’ responsibilities regarding Independence, Impartiality and Integrity.
  • Adhere to and understand the Letter of Authorisation Acknowledgement along with understanding and accepting the associated Letter of Authorisation detailing the activities the incumbent are authorised to perform while working for Applus UK Ltd.
Qualifications and Experiences
  • Has PCN Level 2 in MPI + DPI
  • Can provide documentary evidence of completion of training and minimum on the job experience in accordance with SNT-TC-1A and BS EN ISO 9712
  • PCN in UT and or any other Level 2 PCN
