Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Mechanical Production Support Operative to join the Devonport site on a 6-month contract. The role involves hands-on mechanical work supporting naval platforms, with a focus on maintenance, assembly, and production readiness.

Applicants should have mechanical fitting experience, marine or industrial exposure, and the ability to read engineering drawings. Security clearance (SC) will be required, with flexible, on-site work at Devonport.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance and production support.
• Experience on marine platforms or industrial manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Strong understanding of health and safety in high-risk environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in mechanical assembly, maintenance and repair of components on naval vessels and factory settings.
• Support production teams with tooling, materials and technical guidance.
• Carry out inspections, fault diagnosis and basic testing of mechanical systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, managers and quality teams to resolve production issues.
