Job summary

Babcock International in Plymouth is offering a two-year Materials Engineering Graduate Programme. You will gain hands-on experience in materials science, welding engineering and metallurgy while supporting UK defence programmes for submarines and surface ships.

Through placements in Metallurgy, Welding Design and Non-Destructive Testing, you will work with experts, develop skills toward Chartered Engineer status, and progress into a permanent engineering role within our Marine/Nuclear sector.

Qualifications

• BEng, MEng, BSc or MSc in listed materials/engineering fields.
• Industrial experience or placements are desirable.
• Understanding of nuclear, health, safety or environmental standards is beneficial.
• Security clearance eligibility (BPSS/SC/NNPI) may apply.
• UK national status may be required for this programme.

Responsibilities

• Support materials engineering on defence projects from design to decommissioning.
• Contribute to materials analysis, welding solutions and inspection programmes.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver robust solutions.
• Develop skills through mentorship and specialist masterclasses.
