Job summary

GE Vernova seeks a Field Service Engineer in Portsmouth to deliver expert technical support on Naval vessels. Based in the Portsmouth region, the role involves maintenance, repairs, upgrades and on-sea support within GE’s Field Services team, with opportunities for travel and career progression in a demanding maritime environment.

The ideal candidate will hold an HNC in electrical engineering, communicate clearly, be safety-focused, and capable of obtaining MoD security clearance.

Qualifications

• Holds an HNC (or equivalent) in electrical engineering.
• Communicates clearly in written and verbal form, with proficiency in standard office software.
• Demonstrates a proactive, customer-focused mindset with a positive approach.
• Able to obtain MoD Security Clearance.
• Self-motivated, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently in dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe working environment by following all EHS standards.
• Deliver maintenance, repairs, upgrades and at-sea support to keep Naval vessels operational.
• Diagnose complex technical issues and implement effective repairs.
• Take ownership of work packages from planning to completion with customers and GE teams.
• Provide trusted technical support to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to development of innovative service solutions to improve efficiency.
• Produce clear technical reports and documentation to support continuous improvement.
