Job summary

Gold Group Limited in Bristol is seeking a Naval Architect at principal level to join a marine engineering firm. You will apply hydrodynamics and hydrostatics expertise to manoeuvring modelling from concept through in-service support, and contribute to safe submarine solutions and modelling capabilities.

The role requires demonstrable naval architecture experience, a relevant engineering degree, and the ability to work on-site in Bristol three days a week, with UK security clearance constraints.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience as a Naval Architect.
  • Experience in generating ship/submarine manoeuvring modelling.
  • Strong understanding of hydrodynamic principles and methods.
  • Degree in Naval Architecture, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse and evaluate ship manoeuvring performance from concept to in-service support.
  • Develop, verify and validate manoeuvring models using test data.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop modelling capabilities and tools.
  • Support hydrodynamic sea trials and provide safe submarine solutions.

Role: Naval Architect

Location: Bristol - 3 days per week on-site

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + benefits

Naval Architect needed to join our client, an established marine engineering firm based in Bristol.

This is a principal level vacancy, where we are looking for experienced naval architects with proven experience within hydrodynamics / hydrostatics principles and methods.

Please note we can only consider UK nationals for this position based on UK Security Clearance requirements.

What the role of the Naval Architect entails:

Some of the main duties of the Naval Architect will include:

You will be conducting the analysis and evaluations of ship manoeuvring performance from concept design to in service support, whilst undertaking the development, verification and validation of mathematical manoeuvring models using physical model test data.

You will be working with enterprise partners to develop modelling capabilities, processes and toolsets, all whilst collaborating with Naval Architect teams and customers to deliver innovative and safe submarine solutions, while supporting and conducting hydrodynamic sea trials.

What experience you need to be the successful Naval Architect:
  • Demonstrable experience as a Naval Architect
  • You will have gained prior experience within the generation of ship or submarine manoeuvring modelling
  • You will need to be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of hydrodynamic principles and methods
  • Hold a degree in Naval Architecture, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or have relevant equivalent experience
