Job summary

City of York Council is seeking an experienced project manager to join its Flood Risk Management team. You will lead a Natural Flood Risk management project and secure funding for staff and delivery from 2029 onwards, across the River Ouse catchment.

HYBRID working arrangements are available; you will liaise with consultants, academics and partners to deliver environmental improvements and set strategic direction for the programme.

Qualifications

• Experience in flood risk management or working with natural processes at a catchment scale.
• Proven ability to manage and deliver multiple projects with stakeholders.
• Ability to advise the public clearly at CEFR level C1 during interviews or briefings.

Responsibilities

• Lead a Natural Flood Risk management project and secure long-term funding.
• Set strategic direction and manage day-to-day activities in collaboration with consultants and partners.
• Engage with academics, flood risk professionals and community groups across the River Ouse catchment.
