Job summary

SugaRich is seeking a National Transport Manager to lead the national transport operation. You will oversee transport safety, compliance, performance and cost-efficiency, working closely with site teams, drivers and third-party providers.

You will manage the Operator’s Licence responsibilities, drive KPI improvement and lead recruitment and development within the Transport function. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational and strategic skills.

Qualifications

• CPC Transport Manager holder with good repute.
• Understanding of Operator’s Licence responsibilities and UK transport laws.
• Significant management experience in HGV/logistics.
• Proven leadership and people management capability.
• Track record of managing change and improving performance.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with KPIs and budgets.
• Strong IT skills using transport systems and data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisation and time management; ability to stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day national transport operation and provide clear direction.
• Act as the named Transport Manager and maintain the Operator’s Licence undertakings.
• Ensure compliance with UK road transport legislation and records.
• Manage drivers’ hours, Working Time rules, licence checks and training.
• Own KPIs, budgets and operational performance including costs.
• Use data to identify gaps, investigate exceptions and act on findings.
• Drive continuous improvement in service, safety and cost.
• Lead recruitment, development and succession planning within Transport.
• Oversee fleet planning, procurement and disposal of vehicles and trailers.
• Develop a rolling five-year fleet capex plan and manage third-party hauliers.
