Job summary

Merlin Entertainments is seeking a National Jellyfish Specialist to oversee jellyfish care and display strategy across SEA LIFE UK locations. The role ensures high standards of husbandry, sustainable displays, and compliance with industry norms while coordinating propagation, acquisitions, and quarantine procedures.

The position requires strong leadership, extensive experience with aquarium displays, and the ability to drive display innovations across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in aquarium displays and jellyfish husbandry.
• Strong understanding of life support systems and water environments.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills to inspire and support teams with Jellyfish across the UK.
• Knowledge of industry standards for health and safety, including zoo licensing regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide husbandry support and training to SEA LIFE sites across the UK.
• Coordinate jellyfish propagation, acquisition, and quarantine while meeting ethical standards.
• Manage the jellyfish polyp bank and share best practices across sites.
• Support and drive the running of day-to-day operations at each site.

Join us as a National Jellyfish Specialist, where your expertise in jellyfish care and strategic oversight will ensure our displays across the UK are as captivating and sustainable as possible!

What’s involved?

As our National Jellyfish Specialist, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of jellyfish husbandry and display presentation, ensuring these delicate creatures continue to amaze and inspire our visitors. Overseeing everything from propagation and display innovations to compliance with industry standards, you’ll play a key role in developing our jellyfish displays across SEA LIFE UK locations.

Your Day-to-day Will Involve

• Providing husbandry support and training to SEA LIFE sites, ensuring jellyfish thrive across all displays.
• Coordinating jellyfish propagation, acquisition, and quarantine while meeting ethical standards.
• Managing the jellyfish polyp bank and sharing best practices across sites.
• Support and drive the running of Day to Day operations at site.
• Collaborating on display developments that bring new, awe-inspiring experiences for our guests.

This is a full-time permanent role working 37.5 hours per week, including weekends and after-hours responsibilities.
