Job summary

Royal Mail is looking for a Construction Governance and Performance Manager to lead planning across a national portfolio of projects. The role requires coordinating construction programmes from feasibility through to handover, with regular site presence and nationwide travel.

You will use MS Project and internal systems to maintain baselines, assess risk and drive improvements, while managing a small team and ensuring value-for-money outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong background in planning, scheduling and project controls.
• Proven experience developing and assuring complex, integrated construction programmes.
• Confident working across multi-disciplinary teams and influencing at all levels.
• Excellent analytical skills, including critical path, delay and risk analysis.
• Clear communicator, able to present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience driving value-for-money and value engineering approaches.
• Well organised, detail-focused and comfortable managing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and management of fully integrated construction programmes across all RIBA stages.
• Use internal project management systems and MS Project to create robust baseline schedules and track progress.
• Manage change control, critical path and risk analysis to ensure programmes are realistic and aligned with cost and scope.
• Provide governance-focused planning assurance and clear reporting to senior stakeholders.
• Manage and develop a small team, supporting value-for-money strategies and buy decisions.
• This is a national role requiring regular site presence and travel across Britain, with a full UK driving licence.
