Job summary

NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Advisor to provide strategic clinical leadership for national urgent and unscheduled care improvement programmes.

You will work with NHS Boards, Health and Social Care Partnerships and national stakeholders to shape patient pathways, demand management and service redesign across Scotland. This is an internal NHS Scotland vacancy requiring extensive primary care and community service expertise.

Qualifications

• Extensive clinical experience and credibility within their professional field.
• Strong understanding of urgent and unscheduled care pathways and interfaces across the system.
• Experience of leading or contributing to service redesign, quality improvement or transformational change.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build effective relationships across organisational boundaries.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills
• Experience of using data and evidence to support improvement and decision making
• Commitment to improving patient outcomes, quality of care and population health.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical advice to support the development and implementation of national urgent and unscheduled care improvement programmes.
• Ensure primary care and community service perspectives are embedded within programme design, policy development and service redesign.
• Act as a credible clinical voice, influencing stakeholders across NHS Scotland and partner organisations.
• Support the National Clinical Lead and Associate Clinical Director in delivering strategic programme objectives.
• Identify opportunities to improve patient flow, reduce unwarranted variation and redesign pathways across urgent and unscheduled care services.
• Support the design, testing and spread of improvement interventions that reduce avoidable demand and unnecessary hospital attendance.
• Contribute to sustainable models of care that improve access, outcomes and experience for patients.
• Share learning and best practice from across Scotland to support system-wide improvement.
• Interpret and apply primary care, community and urgent care data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
