Your Role & Team in a Nutshell

As a National Account Manager, you will be responsible for achieving sales goals within assigned accounts, including Sainsbury, Argos, and Tesco. Your focus will be on customer retention, penetration, maintaining stakeholder relationships, and identifying growth opportunities.

You will be part of a sales team of ten, working towards financial goals and KPIs while promoting brands from the Home Appliances category (e.g., Breville, Crockpot) and the Writing category (e.g., Sharpie, PaperMate).

We will support your development through regular feedback and online training courses.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain full profit and loss responsibility for accounts, drive profitable growth, and forecast volume, value, Gross Margin, and budgets accurately.
  • Develop and manage customer relationships, identifying new growth opportunities and managing product listings.
  • Create and execute the Joint Business Plan (JBP), reviewed regularly to meet account metrics and engage stakeholders.
  • Nurture and develop existing customers aligned with commercial goals.
  • Develop, own, and manage 12-24 month promotional plans aligned with account objectives.
  • Identify and grow new business opportunities.
  • Plan and activate new product launches for maximum brand exposure online and digitally.
  • Stock and Sales Forecasting: Use customer EPOS data and market data to optimize stock, sales, and service levels.
  • Conduct regular in-person account visits, at least weekly or bi-weekly, to develop relationships and add value.
  • Explore ways to optimize sales through store visits and web analysis.

  • Proven experience in commercial account management, preferably with Sainsbury, Argos, Tesco.
  • Strong understanding of business financials and ability to analyze EPOS and market data for planning.
  • Experience in strategic development and managing an account portfolio.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
