Job summary

Morepeople is recruiting a Multiskilled Engineer for a Lincolnshire-based fresh produce manufacturer. The role focuses on maintaining production equipment, reducing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement within a fast-paced environment.

The engineer will perform PPMs, diagnose faults, and work across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems while upholding safety and quality standards. 12-hour Panama Days pattern offered with permanent, full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification or equivalent is required.
• Experience in food manufacturing or FMCG is preferred.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with preventative maintenance systems and reading schematics.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production and packaging equipment.
• Respond to machinery breakdowns and production issues promptly.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
• Work with production teams to maximise equipment performance and minimise downtime.
• Support continuous improvement projects focused on reliability and efficiency.
• Assist with machinery installations, upgrades, and modifications.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
• Maintain maintenance records and CMMS updates.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers as required.
• Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

About the Role

An established and highly successful fresh produce manufacturer is seeking a Multiskilled Engineer to join its engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced production environment where engineering plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient delivery of high-quality products.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, reducing downtime, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring the site operates safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production and packaging equipment.
• Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns and production issues.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
• Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment performance and minimise downtime.
• Support continuous improvement projects focused on reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence.
• Assist with machinery installations, upgrades, and modification work.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with health & safety, food safety, and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and update CMMS systems where required.
• Liaise with contractors and external suppliers when necessary.
• Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.

What We're Looking For

• Engineering qualification (Electrical, Mechanical, Multi-Skilled, HNC, Apprenticeship, or equivalent).
• Previous experience within food manufacturing, fresh produce, FMCG, packaging, or a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with preventative maintenance systems.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and reliability engineering.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexible attitude with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
