Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate music therapy interventions addressing biopsychosocial needs of hospitalized patients and families.
• Serve as clinical/educational resource for hospital units regarding music therapy practice.
• Assist and participate in research; develop topics, protocols, and write articles for submission.
• Develop and evaluate music therapy programs and initiatives; coordinate therapy observation experiences.

As a Music Therapist, you will provide patients with comprehensive clinical therapy services designed to help them meet individual goals and enhance their well-being. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in both the lives of patients and their families by offering them a creative outlet for various mental and physical health ailments.

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00am to 4:30pm or 8:30am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 5:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Design, implement and evaluate Music Therapy interventions to address the biopsychosocial needs of hospitalized patients and families asappropriate.
• Serve as clinical and educational resource for the hospital units and professional communityregardingmusic therapy practice.
• Assistandparticipatein research as needed, working with teams to develop research topics and protocols,conductingresearch,gatheringresultsandassistingin articles for submission.
• AssistMusicTherapy Department as needed to develop and evaluate music therapy programs and initiatives.
• Coordinate therapy observation experiences, writereportsand collaborate on other projects as needed.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a program accredited by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)
• Licensed Professional Music Therapist (LPMT) through the Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board
• OR Music Therapist Board Certified (MT-BC) and LPMT within90 daysof hire
• One year of experience providing music therapy services is required. Consideration will be made for time spent in practicum or internship providing music therapy services.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Crosswithin90 daysof hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Three years of experience providing Music Therapy in a hospital or healthcare setting
• Master’s Degree

Physical Requirements:

• Standing and walking at least 75% of the time; sitting less than 25% of the time; hand and finger dexterity and reaching with arms and hands at least 75% of the time, close vision and depth perception at least 75% of the time; hearing and talking more than 80% of the time; and pushing and pulling at least 75% of the time.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
