Job summary

Flexible Learning School in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Music Teacher - Level 1 to inspire pupils through music, creativity and performance. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons, adapting to each learner's starting point and supporting those who need extra help to overcome barriers.

With small class sizes, you will foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere, monitor progress and contribute to safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher status or equivalent qualification.
• Degree in Music or related field.
• Experience teaching Music to secondary pupils.
• Proven communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Music lessons for secondary pupils.
• Differentiate to meet diverse needs including SEND/SEMH.
• Develop pupils' musical knowledge, practical skills and confidence.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Music Teacher - Level 1 who is passionate about inspiring young people through music, creativity, performance and self-expression.

The Role

• Salary: Competitive salary (dependent on experience)
• Hours: 8:45am - 3:00pm
• Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
• Lunch and Breaks: 1 Hour 10 mins (unpaid)
• Hours per Week: 25 hours 15 mins
• Reports to: Deputy Headteacher / Head of Teaching and Learning
• Location: Hockley

As our Music Teacher - Level 1, you will plan and deliver engaging Music lessons that encourage pupils to develop their musical knowledge, practical skills, creativity and confidence.

Working with small class sizes, you will adapt your teaching to meet the individual needs and starting points of pupils, many of whom may require additional support to overcome barriers to learning.

You will create a positive and inclusive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to participate, develop their abilities and take pride in their achievements.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

• Plan and deliver engaging and accessible Music lessons for secondary-aged pupils.
• Adapt teaching to meet individual needs, including pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
• Develop pupils’ musical knowledge, practical skills, creativity and confidence.
• Assess, monitor and record pupil progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment with effective behaviour management.
• Maintain appropriate pupil records and work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals.
• Support pupils working towards relevant Music qualifications or accredited outcomes, where applicable.
• Follow school policies and uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.

What We're Looking For

• A recognised teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, DET, Cert Ed or equivalent).
• A degree or relevant qualification in Music or a related subject.
• Experience of teaching Music to secondary-aged pupils.
• Good musical knowledge and practical skills.
• The ability to plan, differentiate and deliver engaging lessons for pupils with a range of needs.
• Effective classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
• A positive, flexible approach and a strong commitment to safeguarding and improving outcomes for young people.
