The Role

Hours: Full-time

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Includes Inner London Allowance and exceeds the national pay scale

Start date: September 2025 or January 2026

• Uphold and contribute to the implementation of all school policies within the music curriculum.
• Actively support the long-term goals of the music department and the wider school.
• Participate in INSET training to stay informed of the latest educational approaches and innovations.
• Collaborate closely with the Director of Music and colleagues to ensure the subject is delivered smoothly across all year groups.
• Help coordinate and maintain records for trips, guest speakers, and workshops.

The Duties

Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance and broaden the teaching of music across the school.

• Promote excellence in teaching and learning, setting realistic and ambitious goals for pupils from Reception through Year 6.
• Select and deliver suitable choral and ensemble repertoire tailored to different age groups.
• Partner with the Director of Music to ensure effective use of budgeted resources for music teaching.
• Work alongside the Director of Music, More and Most Able Coordinator, and SENCo to identify and support children with varying needs, ensuring inclusive and differentiated teaching.
• Support the planning and delivery of school performances, including Reception Nativities, the Christmas Carol Service, and Prize Day events.
• Explore and recommend the integration of IT to enhance music teaching and learning.
• Advise on and assist with the acquisition of appropriate music resources.
• Help coordinate activities that promote a love of music, such as whole-school singing, internal and external performance opportunities, trips to musical events, and visits from industry professionals.
• Attend Parents' Evenings and relevant meetings to discuss student progress and achievements.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Music
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred but not essential
