Overview

Sing Education seeks a reliable, confident, and inspirational musician with a degree in music or a related field (such as musical theatre or music education) to join our team of specialist music teachers in West London on a permanent basis for 2-5 days per week.

Salary: £24,867 – £32,542 per year (for 5 days/week), based on a 5-point progressive pay scale. Staff progress up the pay scale annually following a successful managerial supervision. Initial pay depends on classroom music experience and weekly hours, plus pension. Work hours range from 7 to 35 hours per week over 38 weeks per year, including paid training. No PGCE required.

What we do:

Sing Education sources and trains music teachers, develops teaching resources, and provides management and consultancy services to schools across London, Yorkshire, Kent, and Slough. We aim to enable children to experience the transformative power of music through singing and collective music-making in schools.

Currently, we teach over 20,000 children weekly. We are on our 7th edition of our own teaching resource. Each teacher receives over 70 hours of in-house training annually, covering schemes of work, extracurricular activities, classroom management, and more. Our team comprises over 90 motivated and skilled music teachers.

Teaching responsibilities include:

  1. Weekly full-day school lessons (8:45 am - 3:30/4:30 pm during term time)
  2. Permanent placement in one or more primary schools
  3. Singing-led whole-class lessons (Nursery to Year 6) using Sing Education resources
  4. Singing assemblies
  5. Choirs, lunchtime, and after-school clubs
  6. Primary schools located across London, Yorkshire, Kent, and Slough

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • University degree in music or a related field
  • QTS desirable but not required

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong singing voice and confidence to lead lessons and assemblies
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Ability to lead whole-class music lessons
  • Basic keyboard skills for classroom use
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum for music
  • ICT literacy, including G Suite and communication platforms

Relevant Experience:

  • Classroom or one-to-one teaching experience
  • Experience working with children or young people in teaching or leadership roles

Personal Qualities:

  • Ability to inspire a passion for music
  • Effective classroom management and discipline skills
  • Teamwork skills within Sing Education and school environments
  • Confidentiality and professionalism
  • Sense of humour and enthusiasm for school life
