OnFife is seeking a Museum Assistant for Methil Heritage Centre. This fixed-term post runs until end of March 2027 and requires 22 hours per week. You will ensure every visitor has a memorable visit and deliver excellent customer service in a community museum celebrating Levenmouth’s history.
The ideal candidate enjoys helping others, has customer service experience, and is keen to promote the venue and its events. Flexibility to cover shifts is essential.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Museum Assistant to join our team at Methil Heritage Centre. This is a fixed term post until end of March 2027, working 22 hours per week. You’ll ensure that every visitor to Methil Heritage Centre has a memorable visit. You will provide exceptional customer service within Methil Heritage Centre. This friendly community museum celebrates the people, industry and everyday life of Levenmouth and offers a warm welcome to visitors from the local area and further afield.
The position is for 22 hours per week. The working hours are expected to be in line with the following pattern, but flexibility is essential to meet the needs of the business
This role will suit someone who enjoys working in customer service and interacting with the public in a museum environment. You’ll be a friendly, outgoing and motivated individual with customer service experience, good communication skills and a keen interest in museums and local history.
You’ll ideally come from a visitor/customer service background, but it’ll be your enthusiasm for helping others and devotion to customer care that makes you really stand out. Naturally good with people, you’ll be able to put customers of all ages and backgrounds at ease, whilst helping to promote the venue, its activities and events.
Your passion for history, culture and community engagement will be apparent. You will be organised, efficient and thrive on variety. It goes without saying you’ll need excellent numeracy, literacy and communication skills, but you’ll also need excellent administration skills, and the processes involved with ensuring the security and operation of the venue.
