Job summary

Summerhill Services Limited is seeking a multi-skilled Painter and Decorator to maintain healthcare premises across the SSL Estate property portfolio. The role covers painting, plaster repairs, wall finishes, and minor carpentry or plumbing tasks to support the Estates team in delivering high standards of safety, appearance and functionality.

You will prepare surfaces, apply coatings, and repair damage while adhering to health and safety guidelines in a busy healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in painting and decorating across internal and external surfaces.
• Ability to prepare surfaces, fill, sand, and apply paints or coatings to a high standard.
• Competence in minor maintenance tasks including carpentry and plumbing basics.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces including filling, sanding, stripping and cleaning prior to decoration.
• Apply paints, varnishes, stains and hygienic wall finishes to internal and external surfaces.
• Repair and re-decorate after maintenance works or water ingress.
• Carry out minor plaster patch repairs and surface prep.
• Assist with planned preventative maintenance and minor projects.

Job description

To undertake painting, decorating, maintenance, repair and minor improvement works across the SSL Estate property portfolio, The post holder will ensure that internal and external environments are maintained to a high standard, contributing to the safety, appearance and functionality of healthcare premises while supporting the wider Estates team in the delivery of maintenance services., To undertake the duties of a "multi skilled" Painter and Decorator, including but not limited to:

• Preparation of surfaces including filling, sanding, stripping, removal of mastic/sealant and cleaning prior to decoration.
• Application of paints, varnishes, stains, emulsions, specialist coatings and wall coverings to internal and external surfaces.
• Application of mastic/sealant as required.
• Repair and redecoration following maintenance works, water ingress, vandalism and general wear and tear.
• Undertake minor plaster patch repairs and surface preparation works.
• Application and maintenance of specialist healthcare coatings, anti-bacterial paints and hygienic wall finishes and sealant where required.
• Decorating patient, staff and public areas whilst maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
• Carry out minor carpentry, plumbing and general maintenance tasks appropriate to a multi-skilled operative.
• Assist with planned preventative maintenance activities and minor works projects.
