Job summary

Colonial Group in the United Kingdom seeks a Multiskilled Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Bias) to keep critical plant assets safe, reliable and compliant in a high-hazard chemical environment.

You will perform planned and corrective maintenance on pumps, vessels, pipework and rotating equipment, while supporting electrical and instrumentation tasks within competency.

The role requires shift work, compliance with PTW, and mentoring apprentices as part of a safety-focused team.

Qualifications

• Time-served mechanical apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3.
• Experience as a maintenance technician in a chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, or related heavy industry environment.
• Strong mechanical skill base with some electrical/instrumentation exposure.
• Experience with hazardous area equipment or regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment (pumps, vessels, pipework, gearboxes, boilers, rotating equipment, seals).
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults safely to minimise downtime.
• Support electrical and instrumentation maintenance tasks at a basic level (fault finding, isolations, simple repairs).
• Ensure all work complies with PTW, site safety procedures and UK legislation.
