Job summary

Workforce Recruitment are recruiting an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for a Birmingham-based manufacturing business. The role focuses on electrical and mechanical fault-finding, planned and reactive maintenance, and supporting production with PLC-controlled machinery.

The position offers Monday–Friday days, with overtime opportunities and a strong emphasis on safety, training, and long-term stability in a non-rotating shift pattern.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Maintenance Engineer in manufacturing/industrial environments.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding capabilities.
• Experience with planned and reactive maintenance.
• Knowledge of PLC systems and automated production machinery.
• Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Level 3 engineering qualification or equivalent apprenticeship.
• Proactive fault finding and problem-solving approach.
• Experience with VSDs/inverters and servo motors on automated lines.
• Continuous improvement, root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance and reactive maintenance across production machinery.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
• Respond to machinery breakdowns and identify root causes.
• Carry out fault finding on PLC-controlled machinery and automated systems.
• Maintain pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
• Work on motors, gearboxes, sensors, inverters and control systems.
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Support machinery installations, upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
