Job summary

Hovis Bakeries in Glasgow is seeking a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer to keep high-speed production lines running safely and efficiently.

You’ll focus on mechanical fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance, with enough electrical knowledge to diagnose faults and support line recovery. The role is hands-on in a fast-paced FMCG environment with 12-hour day and night shifts.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Multi-skilled or Electrical qualification an advantage.
• Experience in manufacturing or FMCG maintenance.
• Comfort with gearboxes, bearings, chains, conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics.
• Electrical safety awareness and fault-finding capability.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical fault finding and repair on production and packaging equipment.
• Planned and reactive mechanical maintenance.
• Electrical fault diagnosis and safety-focused troubleshooting.
• Rapid response to breakdowns to keep production running.
• Identify and implement reliability improvements.
• Work safely following site and legal standards.
