Job summary

Permanent Futures Limited is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (electrical bias) for an automated manufacturing site in Wakefield. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance on high-speed production equipment, working a 12-hour shift pattern (days and nights) to minimise downtime and maximise plant reliability.

The role requires a strong electrical engineering background, experience with automated machinery and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

We are currently recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced, highly automated manufacturing site. The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of production equipment across the site. Working in a 12-hour shift pattern (days and nights), you’ll be responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance, helping to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiency.

Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer - Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a range of automated production machinery
• Diagnose faults and carry out electrical and mechanical repairs efficiently
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance
• Work collaboratively with production teams to reduce downtime and improve output
• Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety and site standards
• Contribute to root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer - About You

• Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer within a highly automated manufacturing environment
• Strong electrical engineering background and relevant qualifications
• Experience working with automated or high-speed machinery is essential
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, shift-based environment
• Proactive approach with a strong focus on reliability and continuous improvement
• Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent)
