Job summary

You will be electrically or mechanically biased with a strong all‑round skill set, carrying out both planned maintenance and reactive breakdown support.

Qualifications

• Multiskilled maintenance engineer with electrical or mechanical bias.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production machinery, plant and associated equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.
• Respond to breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Work on motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors and associated equipment.
• Assist with equipment installations, modifications and upgrades where required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure all work is completed in line with site procedures.
• Work closely with production teams to identify recurring faults and opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety requirements, including safe isolation procedures.

Shifts: 6am-2pm/ 2pm-10pm/ 10pm-6am, Monday to Friday.

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing operation based in Matlock, Derbyshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on engineer to join a busy production environment, playing a key role in maintaining plant and machinery, minimising downtime and ensuring production equipment operates safely and efficiently.

The successful candidate will be electrically or mechanically biased, with a strong all‑round engineering skill set and experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment. You will be responsible for both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support, helping to improve equipment reliability and overall plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production machinery, plant and associated equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.
• Respond to breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Work on a range of industrial machinery, motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors and associated equipment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine reliability, efficiency and performance.
• Assist with equipment installations, modifications and upgrades where required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure all work is completed in line with site procedures.
• Work closely with production teams to identify recurring faults and opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety requirements, including safe isolation procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience as a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Technician or similar.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience working within a manufacturing, production or heavy industrial environment.
• A recognised engineering qualification, such as an NVQ Level 3, BTEC or equivalent.
• Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance.
• A proactive approach to problem‑solving, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A strong commitment to health and safety and maintaining high engineering standards.
