Job summary

Michael Page Engineering & Manufacturing seeks a Multi-Skilled Engineer and team lead for a highly automated food production facility in the United Kingdom. You will lead the engineering team, oversee maintenance and repairs, and implement preventative programmes to minimise downtime and improve OEE.

The role requires electrical and mechanical expertise, PLC familiarity, fault-finding skills, and flexibility to work shifts, including weekends when required.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Apprenticeship, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment (food industry desirable).
• Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, motors, and control systems.
• Proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the engineering team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Our client is an international, leading manufacturer within the food production sector, currently seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer and team lead to join their growing engineering team at a highly automated production facility.

Description

• Lead and motivate the engineering team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment to minimise downtime.
• Implement and monitor preventative maintenance programmes to enhance equipment reliability.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards across all engineering activities.
• Coordinate with production teams to address technical challenges and optimise processes.
• Manage budgets and resources to achieve engineering objectives effectively.

Electrical experience required:

• Sensors (fixing)
• Motor swaps
• PLC experience (programming not required) PLC interrogation & modification required

Mechanical experience required:

• Bearings and pneumatics
• Conveyors (fixes and mends)
• Fabrication e.g. making brackets/ repairs

Will be working on machinery such as:

• Robots
• Conveyors
• Mincers & Grinders
• (Not much with hydraulics)

Profile

The successful applicant will have:
