Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is supporting an established manufacturing business in South Wales to recruit a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer. You will join the maintenance team working on a 2-shift pattern, in a busy production environment where reliability and continuous improvement matter.

The role covers preventive maintenance, breakdowns, PLCs, drives, hydraulics and pneumatics, with opportunity to improve equipment reliability and site performance. Salary around £49,000.

Qualifications

• Time-served maintenance engineer with electrical bias or strong multi-skilled capability.
• Experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, automotive, FMCG or similar environments.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience with drives, inverters, control systems and PLCs.
• Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a maintenance team.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance across manufacturing and production equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and restore equipment efficiently.
• Maintain and repair electrical and mechanical systems.
• Fault find on PLC-controlled systems and automated machinery.
• Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Assist with machinery improvements, installations, and commissioning projects.
• Drive improvements in equipment reliability and production performance.
• Complete maintenance records and engineering documentation accurately.
• Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety standards.
