Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a Multi Skilled Electrician to join the Property Services team. Based at a council depot, the role involves reactive repairs, electrical testing, rewiring and planned maintenance across council housing.

A full-time weekday position with a van and tools provided, plus an out-of-hours rota and a full driving licence. The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation with AM2, City & Guilds 2391 and 2382 qualifications, and demonstrable experience in

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation with AM2.
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing or equivalent.
• City & Guilds 2382 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day electrical repairs, maintenance and complete rewiring in houses, flats and maisonettes.
• Undertake electrical testing, planned works, major repairs and work in empty properties.
• Diagnose faults, identify required materials and complete work safely and efficiently.
• Work independently and alongside colleagues to deliver a high standard of service.
• Treat residents and customers with courtesy, professionalism and respect, particularly in occupied homes.
• Maintain accurate records, complete paperwork and leave work areas clean and safe.
• Work in accordance with current legislation, electrical safety requirements and health and safety procedures.
• Participate in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
