Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) is seeking a skilled Repair and Maintenance Technician to provide comprehensive upkeep across multiple sites in Oxford. You will perform plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting tasks, diagnose issues, and ensure safety compliance in labs and clinical spaces.

You will work independently and with teams, managing tools and records, while coordinating with external contractors. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a facilities maintenance or handyperson role.
• Broad knowledge of general maintenance areas such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and painting.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to troubleshoot and efficiently resolve problems, escalating issues as needed.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and compliance requirements for facility management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage time effectively across multiple sites.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between sites.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to anticipate maintenance needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repair duties across multiple sites (plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry).
• Diagnose and resolve minor facility-related issues (electrical faults, leaks, mechanical faults).
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, building codes and policies.
• Collaborate with departments and external contractors to meet requirements.
• Manage stocks and tools to ensure availability for all jobs.
• Provide excellent service to staff and visitors by responding promptly to requests.
• Maintain detailed records of work and maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate contractor management across sites.
• Develop and review SOPs for facilities management and risk assessments.
• Provide out-of-hours coverage as needed and participate in on-call rotations.
