Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) is seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer with an Electrical Bias to join the Engineering and Maintenance Team in Oxford. This weekend-critical role ensures engineering coverage from Thursday to Monday, 8:00am–5:00pm, focusing on maintaining labs, offices, and building infrastructure.

Solo and team work is required to manage planned activities, reactive requests, and contractor management while upholding safety and compliance at all times.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent).
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification is required.
• Broad knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and building services systems.
• Experience in commercial/scientific/laboratory or high-spec building environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide full weekend engineering coverage as part of site maintenance strategy.
• Supervise contractors and oversee permit-to-work during weekends.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, and building services.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and inspections.
• Support safety, compliance, and quality during all maintenance work.
• Assist with installation, commissioning, and improvements of site equipment.
