Job summary

Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a primary setting in Preston. You will work closely with the SENCO and teachers to tailor support for pupils with diverse needs, fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Role involves assisting with EHCPs, monitoring progress, and liaising with parents. DBS check is required; temporary position with pay dependent on experience.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent is desirable.
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant, preferably with SEN pupils.
  • Understanding of the primary curriculum and SEN challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities with students, staff and parents.
  • Patient, resilient and empathetic approach to supporting children.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in SEN.
  • Enhanced DBS check is a prerequisite.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in training to expand knowledge and skills in SEN support.
  • Foster strong relationships with parents, providing progress updates and contributing to EHCP reviews.

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary Location: Preston, Lancashire Hours: Full-time Mon-Fri or Part Time Salary: From £93 per day - depending on experience

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school team in Preston, Lancashire. In this rewarding role, you will work closely with the SENCO and classroom teachers to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. Your aim will be to facilitate an inclusive learning environment where every child can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the learning objectives for individual students or small groups with special educational needs as outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Collaborate with the SENCO, classroom teachers, and other professionals to plan and implement effective learning strategies.
  • Monitor and record student progress, adapting support methods to accommodate individual learning styles and needs.
  • Assist in creating an inclusive classroom environment that is sensitive to the needs and wellbeing of all students.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage social integration, working to prevent any potential bullying or exclusion of students with SEN.
  • Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and learning resources adapted for SEN pupils.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities to expand your knowledge and skills in SEN support.
  • Foster strong relationships with parents and guardians, providing updates on their child's progress and contributing to reviews of EHCPs.
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent qualification is desirable.
  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant, preferably with SEN pupils.
  • An understanding of the primary curriculum and the challenges faced by pupils with special educational needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to supporting children with various learning difficulties.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of special educational needs.
  • An enhanced DBS check is a prerequisite for this position.

This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise.

Salary / Pay Rate will be dependent on your skills and experience.

£50 in shopping vouchers.
