Job summary

Plymouth Community Homes is seeking a skilled Carpenter to maintain and improve our residents' homes. You will handle carpentry repairs, kitchen/bathroom installs, and related trades across our housing stock, while managing your own workload and delivering high‑quality service.

We value pride in workmanship, strong problem‑solving, and excellent resident satisfaction. A driving licence and compliance with vehicle insurance are required for this role.

Qualifications

  • A recognised trade qualification, ideally NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Strong carpentry experience, ideally within repairs and maintenance.
  • The ability to plan and organise your own workload effectively.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A proactive approach and strong problem‑solving ability.
  • The confidence to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • A commitment to delivering high standards and excellent resident satisfaction.
  • A full UK driving licence and the ability to meet company vehicle insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Carpentry repairs and maintenance across our housing stock
  • Repairs to UPVC windows and doors, lock replacements and forced entries
  • Kitchen and bathroom installations
  • Basic plumbing, tiling, decorating, plastering and masonry repairs
  • Diagnosing faults and delivering effective solutions
  • Responding to emergency repairs and helping keep homes safe
  • Participating in the out‑of‑hours rota, providing an opportunity to increase your earnings

About the role

As a Carpenter within PCH, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and improving our residents' homes. Every day brings something different, giving you the opportunity to use your carpentry skills while developing and applying a wide range of trade disciplines.

Your work will include:

  • Carpentry repairs and maintenance across our housing stock
  • Repairs to UPVC windows and doors, lock replacements and forced entries
  • Kitchen and bathroom installations
  • Basic plumbing, tiling, decorating, plastering and masonry repairs
  • Diagnosing faults and delivering effective solutions

You'll be trusted to manage your own workload, maintain van stock, achieve first‑time fixes wherever possible, and deliver an exceptional service to our residents.
