HMP High Down is offering a sessional, fixed-term opportunity to lead an 8-week Multi-Trade Skills Bootcamp for up to 12 learners preparing for release. The role delivers hands-on workshop sessions and classroom learning across carpentry, plumbing, drylining and related trades.

You will assess progression, provide constructive feedback, and work with prison staff and partner colleges to ensure a high-quality learning experience while embedding health and safety and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering practical construction training to adults in a workshop setting across two or more trades.
  • Experience supporting adults with barriers to learning, employment or progression.
  • Experience with learners who may display challenging behaviours, maintaining engagement and safety.
  • Level 3 (or above) vocational qualification in Construction or a relevant construction trade.
  • Assessor Award (CAVA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent).
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices in a workshop.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality practical and classroom-based training across a range of construction trades.
  • Assess learners' knowledge, practical skills and workplace behaviours with constructive feedback.
  • Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records for funding, quality assurance and compliance.
  • Collaborate with prison staff, employers and college colleagues to ensure a positive learning experience.
  • Embed health and safety, sustainability and industry best practices in delivery.

Sessional (18 hours per week) / Fixed term for 10 weeks We have an exciting opportunity for a Multi-Skills Construction Trainer to lead an 8 week Multi-Trade Skills Bootcamp for up to 12 learners preparing for release from HMP High Down.
