Job summary

UPP invites applications for a Permanent Multi-Skilled Technician (Electrical) in Leeds. The role is 37.5 hours per week, 09:00–17:00, Monday to Friday, with a salary around £39,654 per year. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, electrical repairs, and statutory testing in residence facilities.

A full clean driving licence is required, and you must be on-call 1 in 3. A competitive benefits package is offered including pension and cycle-to-work.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds electrical qualifications as listed above.
• Experience with electrical and mechanical repairs in residential settings.
• PAT testing and fire alarm testing knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Undertake planned and reactive electrical/maintenance work in residences safely.
• Carry out emergency light testing and repairs and RCD/RCBO tests.
• Perform thermal imaging, record findings and implement repairs.
• Maintain records for statutory compliance and liaise with sub-contractors.
• Participate in on-call rota (1 in 3) and assist the wider team.

Job description

UPP currently has an exciting opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Technician (Electrical) to join our team. This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week from 09:00hrs to 17:00hrs Monday to Friday.

Salary Circa. £39, 654. Location Leeds Carnegie Village.

The Multi-Skilled Technician (Electrical) will work as a member of a team providing both a planned and responsive maintenance service, specialising in electrical and mechanical repairs.

This role requires a full clean driving licence.

Is also required to be on call 1 week in 3.

Planned and Reactive Maintenance

• Undertake maintenance within the residences in a safe working environment, assessing all Health and Safety issues before work commences and report any hazards identified to the relevant Manager
• Carry out emergency light testing and repairs.
• Carry out RCD/RCBO tests during routine planned maintenance.
• Carry out thermal imaging, records and repairs.
• Carry out reactive maintenance in accordance with the Service Level Agreement and provide front line response for all electrical work
• Carry out PPM in accordance with the schedule
• Maintain accurate records of breakdowns and maintenance repairs, including records for statutory compliance
• Liaise with specialist sub-contractors
• Assist the wider team when needed.

Statutory Testing

• Carry out statutory testing including PAT testing, fire alarm testing, fire door testing and others, as required.

Health and Safety

• Report any Health and Safety issues relating to the residences ensuring all information is passed to the relevant persons
• Regular near miss reporting.
• liaise with the site team any electrical works on site.

Other

• Assist colleagues in other trades and locations as and when the need arises
• Undertake training as required
• Participate in an on call rota 1 in 3.
• Be prepared to work additional hours especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends - Some weekends are mandatory when outtake and Intake events happen.
• Other duties as commensurate with the post

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria

• City & Guilds 236 / 2360 / 2365 / 2000 / 2330 / 2397 or equivalent EAL electrical qualification to Year 2 / Level 3
• City & Guilds 2382 - 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

Desirable criteria

• City & Guilds 2391 or City & Guilds 2394 / 5 or EAL equivalent
• City & Guilds 2377 – Portable Appliance Testing
• NET Practical Assessment AM2
