Job Title: Multi-Skilled Technician

• You must be 18+ to be considered for the role.
• 40.25 hours per week
• Shift pattern/hours: 4 on/4 off
• Salary: £36,000-£40,000 per annum

We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Technician to join our team at BCP DEFRA, Sevington Inland Border Facility, Ashford, Kent.

What you'll do:

1. Multi-Skilled Work: Carry out a variety of tasks, including general building repairs, even outside your main electrical or mechanical trade.
2. Health & Safety: Work safely and follow all safety rules and Sodexo's health and safety procedures.
3. Work Planning: Manage your own tasks, work independently when needed, and be a reliable team player.
4. Team Support: Assist other team members during holidays, sick leave, or when roles are unfilled.
5. Emergency Readiness: Keep your work phone with you during working hours to respond quickly to emergencies.
6. Professional Communication: Communicate politely and respectfully with colleagues, clients, and their representatives. Keep service managers informed about issues impacting service.
7. Stock Control: Review and suggest key tools or parts to keep in stock.
8. Task Management: Follow instructions from Facilities Managers or the Command Centre for planned and reactive jobs.
9. System Use: Use the Maximo system to manage and complete maintenance tasks.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• City & Guilds in Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning
• Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical building services
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs
• Identify required parts and materials
• Basic skills across mechanical, electrical, and general building work
• Experience in building maintenance
• Understanding of asset maintenance over time
• Flexible with shifts and on-call duties
• Professional demeanor with clients and teams
• Willing to join out-of-hours/on-call rota
• Pass BPSS/DBS checks
• Full UK driving license

Desirable Qualifications

• Additional qualifications in other building trades
• Asbestos Awareness
• CSCS Card
• HNC/HND or equivalent in Engineering or Building
• Experience using PDAs
• Knowledge of maintenance and legal requirements for plant and services
